Among
the Centers funded by the National Science Foundation Advanced
Technological Education Program, like MPICT, is the
National
ICT Center, which is hosted by Springfield Technical
College in Springfield, MA. Its mission is to provide
appropriately skilled technicians and technologists as a
workforce to support ICT (Information and Communications
Technologies) business, industry and ICT users. (This very
closely aligns with
MPICT’s mission.) The ICT Center’s
mission is also to contribute to scientific and
technological innovation in telecommunications education, with
a primary thrust in Curriculum Development and Program
Improvement. The National ICT Center was previously known as
the National Center for Telecommunications Technologies (NCTT).
The ICT Center has a strong
team and
advisory board. MPICT is an
ICT Center Regional Partner, and we collaborate in various
ways, including co-producing
2009 and
2010 Winter ICT Educator Conferences in San Francisco.
The ICT Center is very active in investigating, experimenting
and reporting on how Web2.0 technologies can be used to
improve ICT education, and we can all benefit from many of
their quality practices and examples.

Gordon Snyder and Mike Qaissaunee as Mike is Recognized as
HI-TEC Educator of the Year
The ICT Center is led by Executive Director,
Gordon Snyder. He and
co-PI, Mike
Qaissaunee (HI-TEC
2009
Educator of the Year and iPhone Programming faculty
instructor at MPICT’s 2009 Summer Faculty Development Week)
are prolific communicators.
Gordon’s ICT Blog has a large following, is available for
RSS feed and provides a lot of great information.
Mike’s Blog provides excellent information on a variety of
topics, largely new and Web2.0 technologies. ICT Center
Evaluator Karl Kapp, who provided a keynote presentation on
“Leveraging Virtual Worlds, Web 2.0 and Smart Phones for
Educational Excellence” at our Winter 2010 ICT Educator
Conference in San Francisco, is also an active blogger at
Kapp Notes.
Gordon
has an active
Linked-In network and following.

Gordon is also active on
Twitter.
The
ICT Center has an extensive
YouTube
Channel, with a variety of great video content. For
example, Gordon did a great
interview with Microsoft evangelist Sam Stokes at this
year’s winter conference.
The ICT Center hosts a variety of
events,
textbooks,
news, and
announcements. The open content portal on the ICT Center
website includes great and useful
simulations,
media learning objects,
training courses and links to great teaching and learning
resources for
foundational subjects,
telecom technologies,
gender equity in ICT,
accessibility, and
tutorials.

On April 20th, the ICT Center is hosting
CloudCamp, an unconference where early adopters of Cloud
Computing technologies exchange ideas. With the rapid change
occurring in the industry, we need a place where we can meet
to share our experiences, challenges and solutions. At
CloudCamp, you are encouraged to share your thoughts in
several open discussions, as we strive for the advancement of
Cloud Computing. End users, IT professionals and vendors are
all encouraged to participate.
All ICT related faculty at community colleges in the MPICT
region are welcome and encouraged to approach the ICT Center
to learn more about what they do and to find out how to
benefit from their great work. Their mission is to serve you!
We appreciate the ICT Center’s great work!
