This
summer, NSF ATE funded Centers and Projects from around the
country will again host a national conference to promote and
improve community college technical education.
HI-TEC is a national conference on advanced technological
education, where technical educators, counselors, industry
professionals, and technicians can update their knowledge and
skills. Charged with Educating America’s Technical Workforce,
the event focuses on the preparation needed by the existing
and future workforce for companies in the high-tech sectors
that drive our nation’s economy.
July, 26-27, 2010, the event will start with half-day
pre-conference workshops and tours of interesting local sites,
including:
-
Automated and computer-based monitoring systems for water
quality at Seaworld
-
The Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, where Mercury and
Apollo launches took place
-
The Featherlite Luxury Coaches facility which manufactures
“land yacht” quality busses using advanced techniques
-
Mitsubishi Power Systems gas turbine manufacturing center
with advanced solar power facilities
-
Lockheed Martin’s advanced design and manufacturing
facilities
The main conference, July 28-29, 2010, features keynotes by
Story Musgrave, a former NASA astronaut, and Anthony Johnson,
of the Center for Advanced Studies in Photonics Research.
Conference sessions include a complete track related to ICT
topics. An ongoing Technology Showcase provides opportunities
to learn about and interact with ATE Centers and Projects from
all over the country and benefit from their good work.
HI-TEC
2010 will be at the
Omni Orlando Resort at Champions Gate, a four-diamond
resort which is a great place to bring family. It is
surrounded by 36 holes of championship golf and 15 acres of
other recreation opportunities, including a 850 foot Lazy
River with water cannons, arched waterspout rainbows and a
waterfall. Complimentary shuttle transportation is provided to
all four
Walt Disney World Theme Parks, and discount tickets are
available to Disney World, Universal Orlando, SeaWorld, and
other attractions.
There are still great and varied opportunities for high
visibility corporate sponsorships, which support the event and
position your organization favorably with this diverse
audience. Please contact MPICT if interested. (MPICT is on the
Executive Committee and Chairs the Business Committee for
HI-TEC.)

We hope to see you in Orlando at this great event!
