In
the same way we need to assure common basic user level ICT
knowledge and skills with an ICT
Literacy credential, we also need to assure a higher level
of ICT knowledge and skills for people pursuing jobs and
careers in ICT fields.
As a society, we want to assure
that everyone going through our educational systems develops
an ability to productively use ICT in whatever they do. We
also want to be sure that everyone going into ICT fields has a
higher common level of knowledge and skills.
Adding an
assurance to society that anyone receiving a degree or
certification in an ICT field has at least a certain level of
knowledge and skills in ICT improves the value of all ICT
degrees and certifications.
