The
U.S. Census Bureau is the federal agency responsible for
collecting information on the country’s people and economy.
Among other areas, the Census Bureau collects information on
people and households every ten years, and on governments and
businesses every five years. Census data from 2007 is being
replaced in 2012.
The
annual business census data set can be queried online by
State, zip code or metropolitan area, to identify numbers of
establishments, numbers of employees and payroll. Again, there
is no aggregate for ICT, so subset industries related to ICT
have to be queried separately. Use this set of
ICT related NAICS codes for that purpose.
