Information and
Communication Technologies (ICT) Educator Resources - World
Wide Web Consortium (W3C)
Progress and innovation in building the Internet requires a
common set of standards for software development. The World
Wide Web Consortium is an international community that
establishes technical standards that enable the continued
growth and enhancement of the Web.
ICT faculty can access the W3C website to stay current on
emerging Internet technologies and gain insight into the
technologies that your students will be using during their
careers. Furthermore, W3C publishes a wide variety of
free courses and tutorials about web technologies that you
can share with your students.
W3C
standards are developed through a process that
is designed to maximize consensus and promote
support among the broader community. Members of
W3C collaborate to establish standards in the
following areas:
Membership in W3C is available for education
institutions, businesses, nonprofits, and
government organizations. Representatives of
member organizations can serve on W3C
working groups,
