National Science Foundation Advanced Technical Education (ATE) Centers - National Workforce Center for Emerging Technologies (NWCET)

 

 

The National Workforce Center for Emerging Technologies (NWCET) in Bellevue, WA mission is to provide state and national leadership to create innovative IT and IT-related educational programs through research, professional development, business partnerships and curriculum development to meet the needs of the 21st century workforce.

 

This year, NWCET celebrates its 12th anniversary as a national leader in IT education and workforce development. Over these past 12 years, NWCET has completed a number of education and technology projects and grants with its partners, and has developed several nationally recognized products and services including: IT Skill Standards, Standards Based Curriculum Applications, IT Program Design and Implementation, National IT Faculty Development Outreach, and IT and Technology Horizon Research. NWCET is affiliated and co-located with the Washington State Center for Information Technology Excellence (CITE), a statewide resource for community and technical colleges, the K-20 educational system, and the information technology (IT) industry.

 

NWCET administers a variety of programs, including a summer Washington Working Connections faculty development event, Cybercareers events to raise awareness of IT career opportunities, Washington Center for Information Technology (WCIT) events and Center for Information Technology Excellence (CITE) events.

NWCET has produced valuable product resources, including:

  • Workshops and Focus Group Facilitation

  • Research and Speaking Engagements

  • Consulting

Also at Bellevue Community College, working closely with NWCET, is the Washington State Center of Excellence for Information and Computing Technology, serving as the statewide liaisons to business, industry, labor, and the state’s educational systems for the purpose of creating a highly skilled and readily available workforce critical to the success of the industries driving the state’s economy and supporting Washington families.  It offers many valuable resources, events, research and services to its community.
