National Science Foundation Advanced Technical Education (ATE) Centers - The National ICT Center

The National ICT Center is hosted by Springfield Technical College in Springfield, MA.  Its mission is to provide appropriately skilled technicians and technologists as a workforce to support ICT (Information and Communications Technologies) business, industry and ICT users.  (This very closely aligns with MPICT’s mission.)  The ICT Center’s mission is also to contribute to scientific and technological innovation in telecommunications education, with a primary thrust in Curriculum Development and Program Improvement.  The National ICT Center was previously known as the National Center for Telecommunications Technologies (NCTT).

The ICT Center has a strong team and advisory board.  MPICT is an ICT Center Regional Partner, and we collaborate in various ways, including co-producing 2009 and 2010 Winter ICT Educator Conferences in San Francisco.

The ICT Center is very active in investigating how Web2.0 technologies can be used to improve ICT education.

The ICT Center is led by Executive Director, Gordon Snyder.  He and co-PI, Mike Qaissaunee (HI-TEC 2009  Educator of the Year) are prolific communicators.   Gordon’s ICT Blog has a large following, is available for RSS feed and provides a lot of great information.  Mike’s Blog provides excellent information on a variety of topics, largely new and Web2.0 technologies.  ICT Center Evaluator Karl Kapp is also an active blogger at Kapp Notes.

Gordon has an active Linked-In network and following.

Gordon is also active on Twitter.

The ICT Center has an extensive You Tube Channel, with a variety of great video content.

The ICT Center hosts a variety of events, news, textbooks and announcements.    Its open content portal includes some great and useful simulations, media learning objects, training courses and links to great teaching and learning resources for foundational subjects, telecom technologies, gender equity in ICT, accessibility, and tutorials.

For more information, see the ICT Center contact list and connect with someone from the team.
