Latinos in
Information Sciences and Technology Association (LISTA)
was founded in New York City in 2000 by a group of senior
Latino technology executives and business owners concerned
about the lack of Latino technology leadership and the effects
on the Latino community.
LISTA is committed to supporting Latinos who work in the
science, mathematics, information sciences, new media,
telecommunications, and technology sector. Its mission is to
educate, motivate and encourage the use of technology for the
empowerment of the Latino community in order to conquer the
digital divide. We do this by bringing various elements of
technology under one central hub to provide our partners and
members of the Latino community with the tools they need to
succeed in a highly advanced and technological driven society.
More specifically, LISTA:
-
Builds and strengthens our stakeholder's proficiency in the
information technology, science and telecommunications
sector.
-
Facilitates our member's business opportunities within all
levels of the IT, IS, and telecommunications industries.
-
Represents the interest of over 43,000,000 Hispanics across
the country and their interest in the IT, IS, and
Telecommunications industries.

In its
Career Source area, LISTA is introducing new
technology that integrates one of the most
comprehensive recruitment platforms available
today. This solution provides a centralized
website for Hispanic IT professionals worldwide
to upload their resumes and be viewed by
thousands of employers. The system also allows
employers to search based upon expertise and
experience required for specific projects and
jobs. The system can send SMS messages to
candidate cell phones, notifying them of
interviews, company requests, or even provide
feedback during the hiring process. |

With
twelve
chapters across the nation (none in the
MPICT region), LISTA assists local populations
with networking, professional development, and
community service. LISTA Local Technology
Councils offer local programs and events
throughout the year. Each manages and develops
its own programs. Local technology councils have
local sponsors, scholarships, technology trends
seminars, student workshops, internet-working
mixers, mentorship, internships and job
postings, as well as other programs and events. |

LISTA
Programs include: Professional Development,
Networking, Scheduled Local Events, Leadership
Development, Opportunities to Serve on Local and
National Board, Career Services and Conferences
and Career Expos. |
