Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Educator Resources - ICT Diversity - Microsoft Digigirlz

Microsoft’s DigiGirlz programs give high school girls the opportunity to learn about careers in technology, connect with Microsoft employees, and participate in hands-on computer and technology workshops. Through programs like Digigirlz Day and their High Tech Camp, girls are engaged in hands on learning and challenged to break the stereotypes that have been plaguing women in the ICT world. By capturing girls at a younger age, Microsoft is actively planting the seed of ICT curiosity and knowledge in hopes of grooming these young women to one day be successful ICT professionals.

Microsoft's DigiGirlz Day is a free, one-day event to provide high school girls with a better understanding of what a career in technology is all about. For Frequently Asked Questions, click here. During the event, students interact with Microsoft employees and managers to gain exposure to careers in business and technology and to get an inside look at what it's like to work at Microsoft. This exciting event provides girls with career planning assistance, information about technology and business roles, thought-provoking exercises, and interesting Microsoft product demonstrations. By participating in the Microsoft DigiGirlz Day, young women can find out about the variety of opportunities available in the high-tech industry and can explore future career paths.
Microsoft offers technology programs specifically for youth. One of their signature programs, DigiGirlz High Tech Camp for girls, works to dispel stereotypes of the high-tech industry. Microsoft continues to look for opportunities to give young people a chance to experience, firsthand, what it is like to develop cutting-edge technology.
Experience a new world of fun by exploring DigiGirlz’s online courses! These classes have been developed with girls in mind and will expose students to some of the content that is taught during their DigiGirlz program. Microsoft asks students to have fun and show friends and family how creative and innovative they can be. Participants would learn how to build their own podcast, or HTML website!
