Advancing Student Achievement Through Technology

Since 1978, Computer-Using Educators (CUE) has been the premiere community for educators who want to share best practices and learn about instructional technology.  Founded by teachers for teachers, CUE is membership-based, and offers a wide variety of programs, publications, and other resources useful to ICT educators.

For a comprehensive overview of the impact of technology on education, CUE’s Annual Conference is the place to be.  Conference sessions cover every leading tool, technology, and pedagogical approach.  There are also hands-on workshops, seminars, a student showcase, and a variety of social activities that allow you to get to know your colleagues.  While at the CUE Annual Conference, you can also attend vendor-sponsored sessions and events, and check out their latest educational technology offerings in the exhibit hall.  The CUE Annual Conference is held in Palm Springs in March.

CUE workshops empower you to use technology to make your teaching more engaging and effective.  You’ll leave with resources and “take-aways” that enable you to immediately apply what you learn in K-12 or higher education teaching.  For equipment-based workshops, you’ll even be able to keep device that you just learned to use.

CUE offers three types of workshops.

1.    Read/Write Workshops: Blogs, wikis, RSS, and other online publishing tools

2.    Multimedia Workshops: Multimedia tools for creating audio, video, graphics, animations, and presentations

3.    Equipment Workshops: Educational uses of still and video cameras, iPods, and other devices

CUE workshops are arranged at the request of participants.  Contact CUE’s professional development coordinator to set up a workshop designed for you and your colleagues.

CUE has affiliates throughout California that sponsor local meetings and events. Check out the Affiliates section of the CUE website to find a CUE chapter near you.  CUE also sponsors a wide range of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that allow educators with similar interests to collaborate and share experiences.  CUE SIGs include groups for administrators, media specialists, higher education faculty, independent schools, and technology coordinators.

Programs and Publications

CUE’s programs includes fellowships, legislative advocacy, and professional development events produced in collaboration with Google and Macworld.  CUE also publishes a quarterly journal and a monthly newsletter to keep its members updated about the latest instructional technologies, and how technological tools are being successfully used to improve teaching and learning.

You can Contact CUE through their website, and stay connected on twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.  CUE also sponsors a social network, The CUE Community, where both member and nonmembers can interact and collaborate.

Let’s engage with CUE and its resources to improve the quality and impact of ICT education!
