California Community Colleges Geographic Information Systems (CCCGIS) Collaborative

Advances in information and communications technologies have allowed the merger of cartography with database technology. The resulting geographic information systems (GIS) provide new ways to analyze, share and display geographic data.

Do you want to know who is using GIS in California community colleges? Do you have an idea for applying GIS in your courses? The California Community Colleges Geographic Information Systems (CCCGIS) collaborative is where you’ll find a community of ICT faculty sharing maps, information, projects, and tools that demonstrate how to engage and educate students with dynamic GIS maps.

Interactive Maps

The CCCGIS Collaborative website provides a gallery of Interactive Maps, including:

CCC District Boundaries

The California Community Colleges Boundaries map is the result of collaboration among several nonprofit organizations that serve California community colleges. It is being used to address issues vital to the mission of the California Community College System, such as regional demographics, population growth, traffic patterns, and workforce development.
