Advancing the business of creativity
The Multimedia & Entertainment Initiative is a statewide
network of Community College educators dedicated to meeting
California's workforce and economic development needs in the
areas of digital arts and new media applications.
The Initiative
Director and the directors of six contact centers located
throughout California work with businesses and community
organizations to create environments in which students can
achieve artistic excellence and develop technological
expertise for careers in the communications, entertainment and
interactive learning industries.
The Multimedia & Entertainment Initiative also sponsors a
Media
Arts Award Competition. In this competition, California
community college and high school students receive over
$40,000 in prizes for projects in digital imagery, animation,
film/video, audio, graphic design, website design, and
interactive media.
Resources available at the initiative’s website include
reports about digital media skills, and employment in the
video, game and entertainment industries.
If you have students with talent and ambition to pursue
careers in digital arts and new media, your regional
contact center can help you align your curriculum with
marketplace requirements and inform you about partnerships
with potential employers.
The Multimedia & Entertainment Initiative is part of
Economic and
Workforce Development through the California Community
Colleges.
