Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Education at West Valley College

West Valley College is located on 143 acres on the west side of Silicon Valley, in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains, 50 miles south of San Francisco.  Continuing a nearly 40 year tradition, West Valley College offers 18 dynamic career programs, 91 professional certificates, and 58 degree programs with exceptional preparation for transfer to four-year colleges and universities.  WVC’s 175 full-time and 300 part-time faculty serve about 12,000 students annually.

WVC’s Computer and Information Systems Department offers a complete computer curriculum using state-of-the-art computing equipment.  Students may choose a Business Applications option or Computer Science option (A.S. Degree or Certificate). WVC counselors will aid in choosing the option that best meets the student's needs.  CIS curriculum is grouped into four areas of interest.  For those interested in general knowledge about computers and their applications, CIS offers introductory classes, which are often required for advanced study in business or other degrees and may be transferred to four-year colleges.  A second area of emphasis is Business Applications where the emphasis is on the development of computer information systems within organizations.  The third area is Computer Science, focusing on the study of programming languages and computer operations.  For more information, please call (408) 741-2433 or email.
