Information and
Communication Technologies (ICT) Education at
San Joaquin Delta College

San Joaquin Delta College
(SJDC) operates a 165 acre main campus in
Stockton, CA, a
Tracy Learning Center,
South Campus at Mountain House and
Manteca Center, classes in Lodi, Linden, Rio
Vista, Isleton, Escalon, Sutter Creek, Jackson,
Ione and San Andreas, an educational farm on 157
acres near Manteca and a forestry field-study area
near Mountain Ranch. Some 225 faculty serve about
18,000 students a year, 11,000 as full-time
equivalents. SJDC is part of the
Higher Education Consortium of Central California
(HECCC), along with
CSU-Stanislaus,
Merced College,
UC-Merced,
Yosemite Community College District,
Modesto Junior College and
Columbia College. This partnership of two
universities and four community colleges has
developed dynamic and evolving collaborations,
shared intellectual capital, facilitated
innovative projects, promoted professional
development and increased equitable access to
higher education in a distinctively diverse region
since 1981. |

The Business Division Computer
Science Department
offers a variety of training programs, including
computer network and applications support,
programming, microcomputer skills, as well as web
database programmer and developer training. Many
courses are available on campus and over the
Internet. Students can acquire AS degrees in
Computer Science and
Network Software and a variety of
certificates, including 3 in Computer
Networking, 1 in Computer Operations, 3 in
Computer Programming, 1 in Computer Science, 2 in
Computer Support, 3 in Web Development and 1 in

The Business Division
Business Information Management Program
offers training in the areas of general office,
secretarial, word processing, office management,
and administrative assistant. Good skills in
grammar and composition, keyboarding, the use of
office equipment, knowledge of modern office
procedures, and the use of a microcomputer are
important skills in this field.
