Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Education at Laney College

 

Laney College occupies a beautiful 60-acre campus in Oakland, adjacent to the Oakland Museum and Lake Merritt BART Station. It is a short walk to historic Chinatown, scenic Lake Merritt, and the resurgent downtown Oakland.  An accredited California community college, Laney offers 32 Associate of Arts Degrees, 12 Associate of Science Degrees, 28 Certificate Programs and about 900 classes each semester.  Laney College is the largest college in the Peralta Community College district, which includes Berkeley City College in Berkeley, Merritt College in Oakland and College of Alameda in Alameda.  More than 480 faculty members serve more than 13,000 diverse students at Laney College.

Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department  provides students with the computer skills necessary to find employment, and the analytic and technical knowledge necessary to progress to four-year institutions.  Through ongoing discussion and analysis, a multi-path technical preparation program in Computer Information Systems has been developed which meets industry standards for technical support personnel and academic pursuits.  A wide variety of courses, five major and several certificate options are available.  For each, students must complete the Core Curriculum as well as courses listed under each option.  For more information, please call (510) 464-3172 or email.
