Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Education at Hartnell College

Hartnell College is a comprehensive community college that serves the entire Salinas Valley in Monterey County, California.  The College was founded in 1920 and renamed in 1948 to perpetuate the name of William E. P. Hartnell, founder of California’s first post-secondary educational institution.  Today, as we enter our ninth decade of service to the community, the sense of energy, commitment and willingness to push the limits of how and where we deliver education remains as strong as ever.  Hartnell serves some 7,500 students a year.

The Computer Science and Information Systems program prepares students taking the Computer Science Option with the lower-division coursework required at most universities for advancement to upper-division coursework for the Bachelor’s degree with a major in Computer Science or Information Systems fields.  The Computer Science and Information Systems department offers dynamic, interactive programs featuring hands-on experience utilizing the college's modern computer equipment.  In addition to the transfer program, students may earn an Associate Degree or a certificate with a Business/Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, PC Networking Support, Digital and Web Design or Digital Media option. All programs are designed to provide students with the skills necessary for employment in the information systems and computer science industry.   For more information, please email.
