Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Education at College of Alameda

 

College of Alameda (COA), is California's only community college on an island, at 555 Ralph Appezzato Memorial Parkway (Atlantic Avenue), just past the Webster Tube from downtown Oakland, Alameda, CA.  COA is situated on a beautiful, park-like campus and offers a quiet suburban setting in a bustling urban environment.  COA is one of four Colleges that make up the Peralta Community College District.  Founded in 1970, College of Alameda has served more than 200,000 students and enjoys a well-deserved reputation for the excellence of its academic, vocational, and student- support programs.   A range of unique classes awaits you at College of Alameda, including Aviation Maintenance Technology, Apparel Design, Automotive Technology, and various ESL programs.  College of Alameda is nationally recognized for the innovative ways it meets the educational needs of a complex, diverse, and dynamic community.

COA’s Computer Information Systems Department  prepares students for entry level business positions requiring the use of computer applications.  It qualifies students in the use of word processing, spreadsheet and database management applications.  More advanced students may enroll in telecommunications and computer networking courses.  In some instances, students with work experience in the above mentioned areas may challenge courses based on that experience. The CIS department offers a Certificate of Achievement and an Associate of Arts Degree in CIS.  The department also offers Certificates of Proficiency in:  Computer Applications- Weekend Computer College, Desktop Support Technician, Network Administration, Programming and Web Publishing.  For more information, please call (510) 748-2355 or email.
