Cañada College,
one of the three Colleges of the
San Mateo County Community College District
is located at 4200 Farm Hill Blvd. in Redwood
City just off Highway 280. Courses are also
taught (some in Spanish) at the
Menlo
Park/OICW Center
at 1200 O'Brien in Menlo Park. The college
operates on the semester system.
Cañada College is one of the smallest community
colleges in the Bay Area, with approximately
6,000 students. The college is one of only two
federally-designated Hispanic Serving
Institutions in the Bay Area. Approximately 42
percent of Cañada's students are Latino. In
2001, Cañada College opened its
University Center where students can earn
bachelor's degrees in nursing, early childhood
development, business administration, and
liberal studies. The University Center also
offers teaching credentials for elementary and
secondary schools and an accelerated master's
degree in business administration. Cañada
College has the largest University Center in
the California community college system.
